About Michael

I am, above all else, a follower of Jesus Christ. I am also a husband to Janie, father to Anna and Leah, and the Lead Pastor at North River Church in Parrish, FL. I also teach as an adjunct professor at Grand Canyon University. God opened my eyes to his marvelous love and grace when I was eight years old and I placed my faith and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. He called me to ministry at the age of fourteen. I have had the privilege to study at some great universities/seminaries and have received an Associate of Science degree from Andrew College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Southwestern State University, a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary. I have also written a book entitled Parent-Driven Discipleship and it is available at Amazon. I love reading, writing, running, working out, mountain biking, and woodworking. I chose to name this blog Beyond The Sermon because I do have a life outside of the Sunday sermon. Hopefully, this site gives you a glimpse into my thoughts about life, ministry, family, theology, and all other sorts of things that pop up in my head. Feel free to email me at michaelfkennedyjr (at) gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to connect. Happy reading!

  1. Blessings in your continuing exploration of His call in your life. I have a son whose middle name is Michael, and my mother’s name was Janie. John Martin is a special guy and a dear friend. I saw him at Kroger just a little while ago. He had some interesting things to share about you. He has great respect for your great respect for the Word of God. Perhaps we’ll meet soon. Consider yourself invited to breakfast at the Huddle House. –Dan King Sr
